Daegu is located in southeastern Korea, ideally positioned at the heart of Northeast Asia. This strategic location allows for excellent transportation connections both within Korea and internationally.
Most international participants of IEEE VR 2026 are expected to arrive via Incheon International Airport, one of the world’s largest and busiest airports. Incheon Airport offers regular service to 188 cities across 58 countries through 87 major international airlines. From Incheon, Korea’s high-speed KTX (Korea Train Express) provides a convenient connection to Daegu, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Currency & Money Exchange
The official currency of Korea is the South Korean Won (KRW, ₩). Currency exchange is available at airports, banks, and authorized money exchangers. Major credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s recommended to carry some cash for small shops or local markets. ATMs that accept foreign cards are also available in cities and convenience stores.
Climate
In March, Korea begins to transition from winter to spring. Average temperatures range from around 1.4°C to 12.6°C, with milder weather in the southern regions. While the air is generally dry, occasional rain or yellow dust can occur. Early blooming flowers such as plum blossoms start to appear, signaling the arrival of spring.

Tip & Tax
Tipping is not customary in Korea, and service charges are typically included in the bill at hotels and restaurants. Most establishments do not expect tips, although high-end hotels may accept them. A 10% VAT (Value Added Tax) is usually included in the displayed price. Some stores offer tax refunds for foreign tourists on eligible purchases over a certain amount.
Electricity
In Korea, 220-volt outlets are the most common. Some hotels provide 110-volt outlets for shavers. Please check the power supply before using it.
