Reception Cruise Guidebook

Introduction

The welcome reception of the IEEE VR Conference will be arranged on a Chinese-style cruise ship on the Huangpu River, with a virtual scene of the Bund on the 3D online platform, and a live broadcast of the entire tour to experience the stunning night view of both sides of the river in a simultaneous virtual and real space. At the reception, attendees can meet academic experts and research partners with similar interests, discuss cutting-edge technology topics, and find opportunities for cooperation.

Schedule

17:00 End of the paper sessions, transfer from Pudong Shangri-La Hotel to the pier by bus
19:00 Scheduled cruise departure
19:00~21:30 Self-service meal
19:20~20:30 Chinese folk band performance (L3)
21:30 End of reception, cruise arrival and transfer back to Pudong Shangri-La Hotel by bus

Transportation Arrangements

Please bring your name badge and reception ticket for embarkation.

Shangri-La Hotel → The Pier

We have arranged for 10 buses to be waiting at the north gate of the Shangri-La Zijin Building at 17:00. Please follow the volunteers' guidances from registration desk to the north gate of the Zijin Building and show your reception ticket to board the bus in order.
The bus ride lasts approximately 20-30 minutes.
After getting off the bus, please follow the volunteers' guidances to board the cruise ship.

The Pier → Pudong Shangri-La Hotel

We have arranged 10 buses that will be waiting at the pier upon the cruise's arrival. Please follow the volunteers' guidances to disembark and present your name badge in order to board the bus.
Due to the late disembarkation time and limited public transport, we recommend following to follow the volunteers' guidances to take the arranged bus back to the hotel together.

There will be a standby volunteer on each floor of the cruise ship, near the bar. If you have any questions or needs, please consult them for help.

Safety Guidances

Welcome to IEEE VR 2023 cruise reception on the Huangpu River. Please take care of your belongings. If you find lost items, please hand them over to our staff. In order to ensure your safety, please follow the guidance of the cruise staff and do not climb the side of the cruise ship. Please do not enter the working area of the crew and use the equipment on the ship without authorisation.

Useful Tips

Weather precaution: The night temperature in Shanghai is 9°C to 11°C, and the temperature on the river may be lower. Please pay attention to keeping warm and adding clothes.
Smoking policy: For the safety of the cruise ship and the health of you and others, smoking is prohibited on the cruise ship.
