IEEE VR 2024: The 31st IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces
March 16-21, 2024 | Orlando, Florida USA
The conference will be held at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World (WDW) in Orlando, Florida. We have arranged special room rates at both the Contemporary Resort (the conference hotel) and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort as described below.
The recommendations below include Disney resorts, non-Disney hotels on WDW property, and non-Disney hotels in the Disney Springs area. Other hotels further from the conference, e.g., across Interstate 4 (I-4), may be available at more affordable rates, and many of the hotels provide transit to the Disney parks as well as the airport.
In general, we recommend hotels on WDW property for convenience, or hotels in the Disney Springs area for cost and nearby amenities. For example, Disney Springs, which is within walking distance of multiple hotels, offers dining, shopping, and entertainment, and does not require an admission ticket. In addition, buses run from the Disney Springs bus depot directly to the contemporary resort.

Hotels with Conference Negotiated Rates
Disney’s Contemporary Resort (Conference Hotel):

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (#1 on map above):
Conference Rate: $229/night. There is limited availability at this rate. A link to the IEEE VR Booking Web Site will be provided with each confirmed conference registration.
Other Disney Resort Hotels
These hotels include bus transportation to the Magic Kingdom, which is a 0.3 mile (0.5 km) walk along a sidewalk to the Contemporary Resort. Alternatively, one can take a bus to the Disney Transportation and Ticket Center and take a monorail directly to the Contemporary Resort. The buses usually take between 20 and 35 minutes, depending on the time of day — there is more likely a wait at opening and close. Lyft also offers a “Minivan” service in the resort area for those looking for alternative ride-share transit. All include on-premises restaurants and are good options for those intending to visit Disney parks during your stay.

Disney Springs Area Hotels (Non-Disney)
These hotels are near the Disney Springs area, which includes transportation to the Contemporary resort and restaurants/shopping without requiring a Disney park ticket. Busses depart the Disney Springs Bus Depot (A on the map) for the Contemporary (conference location) every 20 minutes, but only starting at 9 am. Getting to the conference venue earlier may require a taxi or rideshare. In general, better deals can be found through third-party booking services such as Priceline or Expedia.
