Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Grants
IEEE VR 2026: The 33nd IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces
March 21-25, 2026 | Daegu, Korea
IEEE VR 2026 is striving towards an inclusive and accessible environment to encourage conference participation by individuals of all identities and with diverse backgrounds. As part of this goal, we invite early career researchers to apply for a 2026 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Grant.
Who Should Apply?
DEIA grants are intended to provide financial support for early-career researchers (graduate students and postdocs) and established researchers from under-represented or historically marginalized groups to attend this year’s conference. These groups may include (but is not exclusive to):
- Women
- People of color
- Indigenous persons
- People with disabilities
- People who identify as LGBTQIA+
- Individuals from developing countries
- Individuals with extreme financial hardship
We also invite researchers from regions and countries historically under-represented at the IEEE VR conference to apply. The countries that are eligible to receive a registration grant are: India, any country in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. Countries in southern Europe will also be considered.
Eligibility
DEIA grants will cover some of the costs towards the registration for attending the 2026 IEEE VR conference. Funding is available for:
- Researchers with full papers accepted
- Researchers presenting posters
- Student researchers who are not presenting work but who may benefit academically or professionally from attending the conference
Application Guidelines and Process
The application deadline is Wednesday, February 25, at 23:59:59 AoE (Anywhere on Earth, GMT/UTC−12:00), regardless of the applicant’s location. Recipients of the DEIA Grants will be notified by Wednesday, March 4.
Given the limited number of grants available, interested individuals are kindly requested to complete and submit the application form via the Google Form.
Data Protection and Retention
The information provided by the candidates will be accessible only to the members of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility committee. The applicants can request for their information to be corrected or deleted at any time until 31st of May 2026. For this, please write an email to deia2026@ieeevr.org. After the 31st of May, candidates’ answers to the three essay questions as well as their institutional/company affiliation will be deleted. Their remaining data will be anonymized and provided to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility committee of future iterations of IEEE VR for statistical purposes.
Mentoring Opportunities
Eligible researchers are also encouraged to apply for a Mentorship Program(March 6 deadline), which is a great opportunity for newcomers to the conference to connect with more senior participants.
