IEEE Visualization and Graphics Technical Community Virtual Reality Awards and Academy

The IEEE VGTC Virtual Reality Awards recognize and honor individuals who have made significant contributions to our broadly defined virtual and mixed reality community through their research and/or service. Annual awards are given for Lifetime Achievement, Technical Achievement, Significant New Researcher, Best Dissertation, and Service. In addition, each year our community inducts new members to the Virtual Reality Academy.

Call for Nominations for 2027 IEEE VR Awards and VR Academy

Nominations for the 2027 IEEE VR and VR Academy Awards are open now. Award and Academy criteria and nomination forms are linked below. We invite and encourage members of the Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality community to nominate individuals for the 2027 IEEE VGTC VR Awards and/or for Academy Membership. Self-nomination is allowed. The awards will be presented at the IEEE VR 2027 conference.

July 15, 2026: Best Dissertation Award
September 15, 2026: All other awards and VR Academy
