Call for Student Volunteers

IEEE VR 2018: the 25th IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interface

March 18-22, 2018, Reutlingen, Germany

http://ieeevr.org/2018/

Dedicated and enthusiastic student volunteer (SVs) are crucial for the organization of a successful conference. Serving as a student volunteer is also a great chance to meet and interact with other scientists from the field of Virtual Reality. Besides the stimulating experience, SVs will receive an excellent package of benefits that includes free registration (which includes 1 lunch and 3 evening meals), an extra student volunteer’s social, and housing reimbursement when possible.

Travel funds for SVs cannot be provided. All full-time undergraduate and graduate students interested in Virtual Reality are eligible.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be willing to work about 20 hours during the conference. Furthermore, you must also be available for a training meeting at the main venue at the afternoon of March 17, as well as through all daily conference hours through the evening of March 22. Your tasks will include work at the registration, the badge pickup, and the help desk, as well as support for speakers and presenters during the sessions. If you cannot commit yourself to this time frame and this amount of work, then please do not take away a slot from another willing student. Especially for non-local SVs we would recommend that if you plan to come to the conference, you book a hotel room as soon as possible. You should not wait for the selection notification to do that.

We will give priority to those SVs with an accepted paper / poster presentation. We will also take geographic distance from the conference into consideration as well as diversity in the area of research.

If you are interested in applying to be a student volunteer, then send an email with the subject “Student Volunteer Application IEEE VR 2018” to studentvolunteers2018[ at ]ieeevr.org.

Please provide us with the following information in your mail. Please apply by December 31. Selected SVs will be notified by January 10.

  • What is your first and last name?

  • What university or college are you attending?

  • Where is your university or college located (city, state / region, country)?

  • Which program and year are you in (e.g. 1st year PhD candidate in computer science)?

  • Are you a full time student?

  • Which other languages, if any, do you speak fluently?

  • Have you served as a SV before?

  • Do you request housing reimbursement?

  • Do you have housing to offer to other volunteers?

  • Do you present a poster or a paper at IEEE VR 2018? If so, please provide the submission title.

  • Do you have a smartphone, or some other means to regularly check mail, and that you are willing to bring to the conference?

Thank you, we are looking forward to your application.
